In the 1960s, leggings became a part of women’s fashion, the inspiration coming form, fitting clothing of dancers. The invention of the fibre Lycra, leggings came to further popular in the 1970s and ’80s, for aerobics and eventually into streetwear. In the 2010s, leggings became a part of a fashion trend, both for wearing sporting activities and casual wear.

Leggings that are made from cotton and lycra, make them snug and comfortable, giving you the freedom to perform daily activities with ease. The leggings are available in many colours, prints and designs, but black, navy and various shades of grey remain the most popular ones.

By the early 1990s, leggings were actually were more popular then jeans. Leggings are typically worn with long oversized T-shirts, long jumpers or long sweaters. With popularity falling for some time, in 2005, leggings again became popular, particularly in indie culture, with capri-length leggings being worn with mini skirts and dresses. Now popular to wear with, long sweaters, denim mini skirts, plaid skirts, short dresses and short shorts. Leggings also come in capri length and bike short length. The bike short length is popular under skirts and dresses as a fashionable item and to keep from showing too much.

My chose of legging outfit’s would be a black legging with a black top, completed with a black fur jacket, without sleeves and a with a belt and black heels or heeled boots. A sporty look would be a pair of coloured leggings, like red with white detailing, matched with a white shirt and white trainers.

Be casual and trendy, with the freedom of movement!
